Heli Fishing Trip Details

Your BC heli-fishing experience begins with your guide providing transportation from a designated meeting location in Squamish or Whistler to the departure airport. A briefing of the day will be provided by the guide while you are wadering up and preparing for the flight. From here you will receive a thorough safety briefing from one of the experienced heli-fishing pilots prior to boarding the helicopter! There are no in-flight meals on this flight which is great because you'll be too busy looking at the mountains, glaciers, and pure wilderness on the way to the river. Get your cameras ready! From there, we will arrive in a dream fly fishing location that will take your breath away. View our heli-fishing gallery and get inspired!

Premium Fly Fishing Gear

At Valley Fishing Guides, we provide all the gear you will needed for a successful fly fishing trip. We use only premium SAGE rods and reels, flies, and will provide your group with SIMMS waders and boots. You will need to bring a few items so be sure to check out the “What to Bring” list depending on the season.

Certified Fly Fishing Instruction

Once on the river our guides will provide casting instruction based on your experience level. Beginners should not be afraid of our heli-fishing trips. Our experienced guides are there to make sure you enjoy every minute of the trip. Our guides are trained and true professionals when it comes to fly fishing instruction. Even the most experienced fly fishers have commented on taking away new skills.

What about Food?

A fabulous lunch and beverages on all our guided heli-fishing trips. Meal options will be discussed prior to the flight. By our experience, however, most client anglers care more about the fly fishing than the eating!

When can we go Heli-Fishing?

We provide heli-fishing trips year-round. Due to the seasonality of pacific salmon and our resident fish populations, the types of fish we will see will vary. Depending on the time of year, we will fish for bull trout, wild rainbows, salmon or steelhead. Check out our page with more information on the different species seasons we fly fish for.

How many people can go on a Heli-Fishing Trip?

Helicopters are limited by how many seats they have and how much weight they can carry. For most heli-fishing trips 2-6 is the optimum group size. We have helicopters that can carry up to 7 passengers and gear. Note that on all of our heli-fishing trips there is a 1:2 guide to client ratio.
