RYAN TRENEER
Fishing Guide
Ryan is an experienced fly fishing guide in the Sea to Sky corridor, who has been teaching people how to fly fish and appreciate our local rivers since 2007. With over twenty years experience as a fly angler, and over twelve years experience as a fly fishing guide, he has developed the skills to teach anglers how to read water, effectively cast flies, and land fish. Also a professional instructor, a day on the water with Ryan will help you learn how read the river, understand what's going on with aquatic life at that time of year, and use that information to find fish.
Studying Park's and Tourism in University, Ryan moved to Squamish for it's legendary granite rock climbing, and over the next twenty years grew to love the mountain biking, ski touring, running, paddling and everything else that Squamish has to offer. Making Squamish a home gives him excellent local knowledge, and the ability to let you know what's happening, on and off the river.
Whether you're looking for a day of swinging flies for wild salmon on a big, open river, or a more technical day of trout fishing in the tributaries, Ryan's knowledge of the local rivers and mountains will help you learn to understand the river, and find the fish.

Catherine Laflamme
Fishing Guide
Born and raised just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, Catherine grew up fishing and camping with her family. Her father influenced her love of fly fishing and had a fly rod in her hand by the age of 12.
Soon after she was old enough to drive, she devoted all of her spare time to the local rivers chasing steelhead, salmon, and cutthroat trout. Her passion for fishing continued out of high school as she worked part time at a local fly shop and soon after for Fly Gal Ventures (April Vokey).
She now works full time at Michael & Young Fly Shop's Vancouver location, where she has been helping customers get geared up for the last 7 years. Catherine loves meeting new people through the shop everyday and being surrounded by tying materials inspires her to come up with new fly creations.
Her true passion is casting a double handed rod for anadromous species. Catherine competed at Spey-o-Rama, the World Championships of Spey Casting, in San Francisco for her first time in 2018, claiming 2nd place in the Women’s division.
Despite having fished all over British Columbia for steelhead, salmon, and trout, Catherine has also cast lines in Quebec, New Brunswick, and Australia. Her passion caters to her love of adventure and exploration, all in the pursuit of fish.
Catherine is one of the Co-Founders of The BC Women’s Fly-Fishing Group. With more and more ladies coming through the doors at the shop, she thought it was time that BC had a platform to encourage this growth. Her desires are introducing more women to the sport through education, hosted trips, friendships, and by creating positive spaces for women to grow as anglers.
Catherine aspires to continue to grow as an angler herself, always looking forward to the next adventure.
